Diamond & Jewellery Info

The word ‘Diamond’ is derived from the Greek word ‘Adamas’ meaning unconquerable and indestructible. A diamond is the hardest natural stone substance known to man, and a natural diamond could be as old as 70 million to 3 billion years.
Importantly, all our diamonds are assured, via the Kimberly Process, to be real, natural and “conflict-free”. The lure of diamonds as an ideal repository of illicit wealth for the unscrupulous has lead to wars that have raged in many diamond-producing countries of the world, resulting in massive levels of human suffering. We wholeheartedly endorse every legitimate initiative to eradicate the disgraceful trade in conflict diamonds in a deliberate attempt to ensure that every diamond we sell is indeed “conflict-free”. After all, not only do conflict diamonds wreak untold misery upon innocent and defenceless people (and all ethical diamond jewellers need to make a stand against this) but we recognise that our customers need the assurance that the diamond they are buying – usually a symbol of their love for another person – is a legitimate, genuine, conflict-free gem.

Hallmarking and
The UK Assay Office

The Birmingham Assay Office was founded by Act of Parliament in 1773. Its prime function is to carry out independent testing and hallmarking. This protects the public against fraud and other traders against unfair competition and represents one of the earliest forms of consumer protection.
Unlike other countries, it is a legal requirement in the UK for all precious metal jewellery sold to the UK public to be hallmarked. Best Diamond Jewellery guarantees all our jewellery to be hallmarked by the UK Assay Office as your guarantee of quality.
